Jeff Nelson was born in a small town in the land of 10,000 lakes. At fifteen, he fell in love with snowboarding. Early on, Jeff and his friends were part of an emerging culture, establishing moves and style that became the backbone of the ever-evolving sport.
“There were no rules. We were the black sheep of the mountain and part of the ‘grunge’ era,” Jeff says. “We were forced to go out and create, and we made every dead tree, every metal object, something you could create a trick on.”
For years, Jeff traveled the world as a sponsored snowboarder. It was during this time that he began taking photos, avidly documenting his adventures and life on the road. His talent was evident from the start. While competing in Breckenridge, Colorado, his home mountain, Jeff suffered a severe back injury. After recovery, Jeff retired from snowboarding and competing to embrace photography as a full-time career. He approaches his work with the same devoted dedication that he did with snowboarding.
“I put my heart and soul into everything I do. I always strive to be my best self,” Jeff says. “First and foremost, my goal is to deliver what the client has asked for, and I always look for creative perspectives that elevate the original idea.”
